Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Drawing Studio)

Job description:

DEPARTMENT: ART FOUNDATION | NUMBER OF OPENINGS: 1 ONLY

The TA for Drawing Studio will be required to do the following:

Work with a diverse student body.

Communicate clearly using drawing vocabulary.

Be available during class times to “shadow” the professor and learn various teaching methods.

Work with the students outside of class time (including evenings) to assist them with their work.

Hang student work in the hallways and collect work for end of year show.

Participate in class critiques.

Prepare various drawing materials for each class.

Collect and organize digital documentation from Google+ and form into Google Slide Presentations.

Contribute to other departmental tasks as necessary.

Qualifications required:

The TA candidate for the Drawing Studio position should possess outstanding drawing skills. The candidate should be able to clearly demonstrate (by showing past work) an in-depth knowledge of all areas of drawing. These areas include shading/rendering, mark-making, composition, observational (sighting, angling and measuring) and perspective drawing.Furthermore, the potential candidate must be capable of demonstrating any one of these techniques if needed when helping the students.
The preferred candidate should be willing to work with a diverse range of students ranging in all skill levels and be able to communicate clearly through positive constructive criticism in order to provide the students with feedback in regards to their work in progress.
The TA in Drawing Studio must have successfully completed Drawing Studio and other Art Foundation courses.
